HfM Report: Peres Adhiambo's Story
Peres (age 10) developed numerous illnesses almost immediately after her parents death. Her guardian tried to treat her locally but yielded poor results. At the advice of others in the community she was tested for HIV and found to be positive.
Before HfM this would have been a terminal diagnosis, but through the support of HfM, there are funds available to cover her doctors visits and the pediatric antiretroviral medicines needed to treat the disease.
The support of HfM has literally saved this young girl's life.

A Real (Estate) Opportunity In early spring of last year John Owour. the pastor of Upper Hill was made aware that the owner of property adjacent to the church was interested in selling and offered the church an opportunity to purchase the land before it became available to the general public. The previous owner had been very positive towards the church and the risk of a new owner who may have different feelings towards the church was a great concern to John. He reached out to VVCC and by the end of the summer we were able to send him the $20,000 necessary to acquire the land. |
Buying a "Cooker"... and Putting it to Work In November, VVCC took up a special offering to help provide a special Christmas celebration for Upper Hill Christian Church. That offering went towards (1) the purchase of a "cooker" (you and I would call it a stove), (2) bibles for all the children of Upper Hill Christian Church, (3) providing the food for an Upper Hill, which wound up being 20 chickens and one cow!! Here are some pictures of John purchasing the "cooker", kids receiving their bibles, and the celebratory Christmas meal. |
